ABOUT THE ARTIST

I will not pretend to write my biography in the third person. Authenticity is a trait people cherish about me.

I was born in the Northern Mountains. The year was 1971. My father was an English teacher and writer––my greatest teacher. My mother held the gift of caring for others.

A love for the forest is engrained in me, but in an attempt to find my people, I moved to a city, Boston, to attend the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and Tufts University. Along my path I also studied Graphic Design and Web Development at New England Institute of Art and took a video game design class at MIT. Boston became my home when I met my husband, guitarist and songwriter Will Sullivan, aka Will Toxic. (Toxic Narcotic, Mouth Sewn Shut, NoTox and Tin Can Hooley.)

An attraction to countercultures, leftist politics, and hard music turned me toward punk during my teens. I’ve spent most of my career illustrating for the DIY, purposely independent music industry with dips into mainstream music labels. My personal work has always stretched beyond these confines.

Over the decades, my work has evolved to be more personal. I still love drawing skulls, and my work will always contain both somber and rebellious themes, but I wanted to make work that dug deeper and with more varied topics. My intent is to create a world, a narrative, and a refuge for others.

In 2016, along with our beloved Rhodesian Ridgebacks and blue cats, Will and I moved to the forest. It was a decades-long plan. Here, I live my art in my mysterious woodland surroundings.

Thank you for visiting my website and taking the time to read about me. I hope you get in touch to commission work or purchase a print.
